Medical Chinese Test (MCT) is a standardized test of medical Chinese proficiency. It is jointly found by Confucius Institute Headquarters, Chinese Testing International and five key medical universities in China. MCT is mainly aimed at international medical students, students who study medicine in Chinese outside China, and medical workers who use Chinese as a second language in clinical diagnosis and treatment inside and outside China. It is used to test the examinee’ s ability to communicate in Chinese with patients, medical workers and related people in the medical field.
I. Ability Description
Level 1 of MCT: Candidates of this level are supposed to generally understand the basic Chinese materials related to the daily communications occurring in the hospital, are able to carry out simple conversations about diseases, and describe the basic symptoms of diseases in Chinese with patients or medical workers. The Chinese proficiency of the candidates of Level 1 can basically meet the requirements of hospital practices. Candidates of this level should have mastered about 400 medical Chinese vocabulary.
Level 2 of MCT: Candidates of this level are supposed to understand the specific Chinese materials related to the daily communications occurring in the hospital, are able to carry out relatively complex conversations about diseases than those mentioned in Level 1, and make specific descriptions on the major symptoms of diseases in Chinese to patients or medical workers. The Chinese proficiency of the candidates of Level 2 can generally meet the requirements of hospital practices. Candidates of this level should have mastered about 800 medical Chinese vocabulary.
Level 3 of MCT: Candidates of this level are supposed to totally understand the Chinese materials related to the daily communications occurring in the hospital, are able to carry out complex conversations about diseases, and describe the overall symptoms of the diseases in Chinese. The Chinese proficiency of the candidates of Level 3 can completely meet the requirements of hospital practices. Candidates of this level should have mastered about 1500 medical Chinese vocabulary.
II. Contents of MCT
The Medical Chinese Test (MCT) is divided into three parts: listening, reading and writing, with a maximum score of 100 in each part and a total score of 300 as a whole. The test is composed of 101 questions. And the time limit for the test is about 125 minutes (including 5 minutes for the examinee to fill in personal information).

III. Performance Report
Examinees can log into the Chinese test service network(www.chinesetest.cn) by the admission number and the examinee name to inquire the scores of the test one month after the test.

During the application, please note the following:
* You have to register separately for each written exam on the www.chinesetest.cn website.
* It is obligatory for the MCT written exams to upload a picture during the registration process as per the requirements outlined in the rules and regulations.
* You have to read carefully and obey the rules and regulations of the exams.

* You can pay the exam fee by check at the post office or by transferring the money online.
Bank transfer tutorial for MCT
* You can get your check only at the reception of the ELTE Confucius Institute (1088 Budapest, Múzeum krt. 4/F., I/16) during business hours!
* After you have paid the check at the post office, please send us a scan of your check or a screenshot of the confirmation of the online transfer to the hsk@konfuciusz.elte.hu e-mail address.
* It’s not possible to present the check personally at our office, you can only present it by e-mail.
* Those who haven’t sent us the picture of the check before the deadline cannot participate in the exams!
We would like to call the attention of the examinees that their name must be put on the check! Checks with no name will not be accepted.
* We cannot refund the exam fee.
* The assigned rooms on the admission ticket may not be correct, consequently you should keep a look out for additional information on the website of ELTE Confucius Institute where the latest information about the assigned room and time of the exam will be available from 2023 November 15th.
* The result of the exam is available one month after the exam on the www.chinesetest.cn website.
Please make sure that You will bring to the exam:
- admission ticket,
- ID-card with photograph or passport,
- 2B pencil, eraser, sharpener.
The admission ticket can be printed from the www.chinesetest.cn website after logging in.
Price of the exams
Every written (MCT 1-3) exam has a fee of 10.000 Ft.
The admission ticket is available at the www.chinesetest.cn website 10 days prior to exam, you can print it from the account you made.
